I just discovered this wonderful book called "Codex Seraphinianus" that was written/drawn in the 70s by the Italian architect Luigi Serafini.

The book is some kind of visual encyclopedia to an unknown world, written in an invented alphabet, and full of weird illustrations that show that world's plants, animals, people, machines, etc.

It is truly beautiful and extremely strange... words really cannot describe it. (It also appears this book is very rare and expensive - I found it on Amazon sold for $550!)

Check out its Wikipedia page, and another page that has a few scans from the book.

I've also submitted a Digg story about it, so that more people can know about it. If you feel as intrigued by this book as I am, feel free to give it a digg. :)

I'm downloading a scanned copy of this book now. The couple turning into a crocodile is more funny than bizarre actually. I can imagine how the author was watching a porn flick and thought the lovemaking couple looked like a crocodile :D

I have the scanned copy too, but I also want to buy the real book (I found an Italian bookstore that sells it for 89 euros).

I think most of the illustrations are more on the funny/whimsical side. They are not really disturbing, but more like thought-provoking.
