I've been putting the feelers out for a new template for one of my directories, but seems like we have a union shop going on here. I've come across several who have a fully coded template, that I simply don't like. Others have designs, but not coded. Some need a design+css, it seems there isn't anyone who can just take my suggestions and build be a template? What do people normally do, buy a design, then pay someone to turn that design into a template? Insight would be appreciated.
Hey simple, get ur template made/designed. Hire some of the coders like myself to convert it to directory and you are all set. Simple !
So what does one like you need to code it? Do you need css and images or can you use a single .psd file and slice it up and create your own files?
I design and code directory templates. All i need from you is your ideas and colors, and all the magic is on my end.
I prefer from scratch , i start using .psd , i do my own slicing according to design requirements, cause most designers who do not work with directories do not know how to slice it, as it needs to have fluid heights cause of categories present. Width remains fixed unless design does allows for it to be fluid.
OK, I have an idea of what I want, and hove posted for services in other areas here but had limited results. If anyone is interested in this project, please PM for details.
To be frank most topics posted in services area get pushed back and no one actually gets to see them properly. That could be reason for poor response. But what project you have in mind, pm me about the same. Cheers
just go with someone who will do both rather than getting a cheap psd for 15$ .. which is half crap. Aspidov above is a very good designer.
Syed, are you sure we have PSD's for sale as cheap as $15?. BTW i like all, Serg,Marko,Shabou,Syed(You),Emillie,Zeb and did i forgot to add Ricardo? Ricardo or Riks is a good option, i love his work for Emporium and Mishre,~
Mike am not sure but what i know and what iPod himself said was that biduplinks is a Clive production, now not sure weather he coded it or designed it.
For professional work, you better hire 2 people: one designer and one coder; a coder should be able to implement a design on any code. The designer is a designer not a coder! If someone does both, he better have a good experience on both area of expertise.
The problem is usually this: A person can be a good designer but his coding skills might be sloppy. Where as, you might have a coder who writes valid code but isnt a gifted designer. Unless you are able to find someone who is both a talented designer and a neat coder, you'll have to find a designer first who'll create a PSD for you. Then you'll take that PSD to an (X)HTML coder who'll have it converted to whatever script you want the design for... If you are interested in the service I provided (for phpLD and WP), you can read my official thread here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=184463 Thanks, -- Naif
Aspidov just finished with design and coding of my template. I am very happy (link is in my sig ) Lance
