I was asked on another forum to create a website from a layout mockup a user had made in photoshop. I sliced it and then didnt know what to do next. I then found that photoshop can create the HTML and CSS for you. I gave this a try. It produced some really bad code with pixel-perfect absolute values, but I gave it to him anyway. (I got $15 for that!) But I was wondering, what is the best way to produce a site from a PSD? Thanks very much!
dont just slice it by blocks.. you need to go to each layer if needed... some layers need to be saved transparent... when doing a css/html always do it by handcode... i do all my works just in notepad ... trust me memorizing all the codes and knowing how each code affects the layout will make it easier for you to become a great css coder ... thats the best way for me... dont rely in WYSIWYG Editors ...
agreed. he more complex the code, the more likely it is to be broken, you cannot manually edit it, the more likely it is to not render correctly, and it will also increase your banwidth usage and your website will show up slower. If you don't have the time to learn to hand-code a site you don't have the time to maintain it. It would be like finding a machine to automatically change the oil on your dragster so you didn't have to be bothered with is inbetween drag races - something's gonna break and it's gonna hurt a lot when it does!
