Coby DuBose paid $75 but delivered nothing

Payment of $75 made via Paypal to Will Dubose on November 2, 2007. Ten articles were to be delivered by November 4. To date I have not received anything from Cody Dubose.

    November 2:
    Hey RDrye,

This is certainly something that I can do. I've looked over the website you included and I think I've found some bands that I could feature.

The total for those would be $75 and my paypal address is prelawtiger@yahoo.com

I'll have those to you by the end of the weekend.

    Thanks,
    Coby

    November 6:
    Hey RDrye,

Just wanted to update you and let you know that I'd have them done for you today.

Are you sure you just haven't received the files? My email program hasn't been giving me all of my emails lately, people have been turning in work to me --- as well as clients sending me emails, and I'm receiving only a portion of them ;) Check your spam folder too. I've worked with Coby previous and talk to him on a weekly basis --- he never intends to scam someone.

His last post on this forum was NOV 10 - perhaps a family emergency occurred. I learned in the past that jumping to conclusion, something bad may have happened and then I end up feeling bad. I'll try to contact him and send him this url.

Wow. I don't believe that from Cody, my partner has gotten some work done from him in the past. Hopefully he's ok. I mean the world is crazy you never know what may have happened. My partner had nothing but good things to say about him...

This is what happened when I disputed with Paypal today:

From Seller: Will DuBose on 11/27/2007 15:03 PST
This is for an intangible good(articles), which I sent to this customer via email. This is why Paypal doesn't cover Virtual goods with their system, because now this guy is trying to screw me after I did the work.

From Buyer: Roger Drye on 11/27/2007 10:25 PST
I purchased 10 articles of 500 words the first week of November. You promised delivery early in November. You have not returned any emails or private messages related to this issue.

Coby, I am assuming that since you sent via email, you would be willing to re-send today and I can drop my PayPal claim. Of course, it's hard to understand why, if you sent them via email, you didn't just resend - it's not like it would cost you much.

Fraud - a deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain.

For those not aware, the FBI runs the Internet Crime Complaint Center: http://www.ic3.gov/

When you file a complaint, they refer it to the local jurisdiction of the person that defrauded you (if they are in US). The local sheriff will pay a visit to the offendors place of work, school, or home to investigate. They will be able to pull computer records and those of his ISP to show that he never attempted to send these articles via email. It isn't the fastest process in the world, but the 2 times I have used the Center it has resolved my complaint.

    wow...
I got 5 articles from this multi-named guy.
But I never pay up front for articles. I pay only if they are good enough.
And I can suggest you the same. Better safe than sorry.

The FBI won't move a finger unless you lost over $10,000.

Even then MAYBE they'll send him a nice letter.

IC3 doesn't work that way. They refer to local authorities and they take action. Doesn't need to be $10,000.

I had an email from Coby this morning saying:

    "Hey buddy,

There's no screwing you going on. I completed about 40% of your work thus far, and anticipate having the rest of it done by tomorrow.

    Coby DuBose".

I will post here telling everyone if he keeps his promise...
