I know this may seem strange to many people but I don't actually know the first thing about internet marketing. I'm interested to learn as much as possible on the subject and would be grateful for any advice on how & where to begin. I've made the usual beginner's mistake of overloading myself with so much information – much of it no doubt useful - from so many sources that I simply haven't a clue where to start. Right now I don’t even have a website. Could anyone, for example, refer me to somebody who could offer individual coaching (preferably at not too high a price) ? Any help would be warmly appreciated.
Hey Phil, I may not be the best person to post a first reply, as I am almost as new as you here. Maybe we will learn some together. I just wanted to ask what sort of background do you have? Have you done any web design or building? What is your general knowledge of Web hosting and domains? What about sales? I have a fairly broad knowledge as I work in IT and like the subject, but coding is not my strong point. I have read a lot here and am looking at trying one of the Affiliate methods. I will set up my pages and work from there. I would recommend reading up on SEO as well. You will be able to find lots of help free or paid here for web design and set up. But I would recommend learning about it and what ever your web host can offer. Find one method that works for you and learn it until you are comfortable then expand it and learn a new one. Rinse and Repeat! Hope I have helped, and will see more from both of us here. Good luck
If you want to save yourself a lot of wasted time. Crack open your Wallet and Buy Rosalind Gardner's Super Affiliate Handbook. Take it to Kinkos or Office Depot or your local printer and have it printed and bound. TURN OFF The computer. Spend a couple of days reading it. Then you'll have an idea of where to start. Then you can develop a plan to market a product. Figure out who your Target Customer is and research the keywords they use. Make sure there are affiliate opportunities. Learn how to install Wordpress with a nice looking template. If you are serious this should take you a month or so spending an hour or two a day. Or you could waste that month trying to figure everything out by yourself. I can not tell you how many times I read posts from people who have been making their site for more than a year and are not making any money. You build the site near the end of the process. That's when the fun begins as you allocate time to driving traffic to the plan you create.
