Hello I often search domain names and find that names are often taken in the .com and some others but the .co.uk is available. I have one today and I like the name and can see a site being built around it. the .com and other are parked (Just advertising links) Can someone tell me If I bought this domain and built a site around it what are the issues that may pop up, for example, would U.S. traffic not go to a UK domain or is that really down to gaining ranking. Thanks
If you buy a .co.uk or .uk or any local domains, the only issue you have is that it will be harder to compete against international domain names. What you will gain is local search queries within the uk. But as long as you have a quality site there is nothing stopping you from beating the competition. But be warned that the international domains will have it much easier in ranking.
United Kingdom has good value in business, so co.uk is not a bad domain name extension, you mainly have to target UK customers, as this extension would have high ranking in Google.co.uk.
