Hi, Will a .co.uk Domain name still be seen by google as a UK site, or does it go on the IP / server location??? Also, will a .co.uk rank better then a .com when doing a search in the UK, or for UK searchers. Cheers.
1. A .co.uk Domain name hosted on a US server is seen by google as a UK site. 2. Sites with .co.uk Domain (server location does not matter) and sites with .com, .net, .info,& . org provided that they are hosted or google-webmaster located in the UK are seen as UK sites and then may get advantage in google.co.uk SERPs versus the other similar sites. 3. Furthermore, only those sites may be found in the "pages from the UK" SERPs of google.co.uk. 4. Just a pending question for me : can a site with .co.uk domain name be better ranked in the USA (let's say in google.com) if it is hosted in the USA (versus the same site on UK server) ?
I don't know, jose, if anyone can answer your question, because it's theoretically impossible to compare. Yes, it would've been possible if your site would've had all the rankings absolutely constant and even then the results would be inappropriate. Only Google can tell us the truth
If your target is google.co.uk then the .co.uk TLD and ip/server location can offer a geographical advantage for uk serp's but that generally does not extend to the same search on google.com
