.co.uk Domain names Good or Bad?

I am in the process of choosing a domain name for a football/soccer related site and have a short list of two domain names. One I really like, the other not so much.

The domain name I like is a .co.uk

The domain name I am not as keen on is a .com

I am wondering how important having .com would be for a site such as mine. Content would be based on English football, so I would expect the majority of my visitors to be British.

What would be the major disadvantages(if any) of using a .co.uk domain.

Can anyone give me some advise and help me with my decision. I have be mulling over it for the last 3-4 days.

Everything depends on market you want to target...

You say content will be based on English football, so basically, there´s no problem to use a co.uk tld...

However dot com is much more internationall term for average internet user...

being you, I would personally prefer dot com because of its much more international look a like, even if it will be focused on english fot, but here it really depends only on your feelings

    my 2 cents :)

The .com should be better when it comes to offline marketing.

    Well, forget about offline marketing.

Its better to buy .com and co.uk both.

That way just redirect the domain name to .co.uk domain name and you should be able to regain the traffic and brandability.

Its only gonna cost you 7$ more?

Hmm. If the domain contains the word soccer it'll look out of place on a .co.uk domain, we don't call it that

You would do great with .co.uk since your target audience is british-based. I'd say you should get the .co.uk one.
