Co-op refferal spamming?

I know that the usage guidelines says something about not spamming your refferal link, does that include adding your refferal link to directories?

They guy that owns Ldmstudio.com is my friend.

He did not submit his refferal id to directories. He OWNS that directory.

Hence, it cannot be called spamming if you include your id in your own website

Owning the sites does change the issue quite dramatically

 

If you owe the domain, it should not come in spam category.

 

Is it ok if I post my referal link in my signature?
