    Hi all,

    the ad guidelines says

Ads on the ad network must adhere to strict quality guidelines:

    Types of ads:
    No adult ads are allowed
    No gambling ads are allowed
    No pharmaceutical ads are allowed

    Ad Text:
Keep your anchor text short and useful for end users
For text-based banner ads, make the descriptions long and useful for the users
Do not create all uppercase words unless it's needed (abbreviation for example)
Do not create all lowercase ads
Avoid characters used only to grab attention (for example starting or ending ads with *, !, |, etc.)

I got an ad rejected because my page has a pop-up. I don't see this part mentioned anywhere. Perhaps digitalpoint would like to update the TOS/guidelines?

I believe its up to the individual reviewer but keep in mind there are probably a million things that could disqualify you so listing them all would be impossible.

For instance, if the site starts installing software when someone clicks on the link, etc

Rejecting based on pop-ups are up to the reviewer. If they are overly annoying, I would reject them. If they aren't (for example cnn.com has a single ad pop up), I would personally probably let it in.

hmm..then perhaps there should be some standardization (say not more than 1 popup)? My site has a single popup that appears after 30 seconds. It was rejected by 1 of the reviewers but accepted by others.

I agree. I have a flyin and my reviewer rejected ad based on that. If we are going to have ads banned for it then it should be in the rules! I have been trying to get an ad listed for two days now and it keeps getting rejected for picky things (one exclamation point then flyin ad). It is more than annoying!

It is especially annoying considering the fact that many of the ads that appear on my sites don't seem to have the same rules applied to them. Why do I get non-English sites ? Frankly that is far more out of sync than a single exclamation point.

i know it's a volunteer thing and the volume is high and god bless 'em for doing it ... but there are times when i'd like to counter "ad denied".

is a site where you gamble the same thing as a site that has amazon books that are about gambling or playing cards better?

i got rejected for that, and it may be just ... but it would be nice to be able to explain yourself ... maybe not ... i dunno ... could get abused too.

If you are selling gambling books, it would be gambling related and fall under the blanket rule of "no gambling related sites".

I don't personally care... but you have to look at the bigger picture. If you don't just make it a blanket rule like that, you are going to end up with lots of ads for "Poker" or "Viagra", etc...

Because you could have a page about how to play poker, or you could have an informational site about Viagra and it wouldn't necessarily be gambling or pharmaceutical in itself. But it would spawn a bunch of unwanted (just from the anchor text) ads.

So that's why it was applied as a "blanket" to include "related" stuff as well.

I would like to see more options for displaying. Currently I'm using simple text link (at top of right column) mainly because I don't like banner ads and the text box doesn't fit into a sidebar.
