Co-op good for a new site?

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by dpak, Jul 18, 2005.

Is the Co-op network any good for new sites which don't have much traffic yet and don't have a google pagerank (zero)? Will the ads ever show on the network?

Also, if my weight is zero, does that mean my ads will never show? and should I stop wasting adspace on the co-op ads?

    Thanks for your help!

Do you have any pages indexed by Google?

I would get some other links first and get some of your site indexed. You can sign up now but wait to put the Coop on your site.

You would have a negligible amount of weight for a PR0 with 1 page indexed

I don't think you get any weight with a PR0 and only one paged indexed.

I agree. The Coop puts a lot of emphasis on the number of pages indexed. Personally I like Link Vault more than the Coop (link in signature) but both are similar. I think that Link Vault has more emphasis placed on PR and less on number of pages indexed than the Coop, although that will make little difference to you. The big advantage is that the links are static. Whatever you choose, I recommend using an ad network.

The reason the Coop likes indexed pages is because it is a true Ad Network. You can't be an Ad Network if your sites aren't seen (hence the importance of lots of pages)

Plus unlike other networks, its completely free ;)

Interesting, so I should build traffic first and then use the Co-Op to get some more? So it's like the saying, you need money to make money, but in this case, you need traffic to get traffic :)

It's more about pages indexed than traffic, though if you have 1000s of pages I'd expect at least some traffic or you need to be in a different game :)

The Coop is not an SEO replacement so it shouldn't be the only thing driving traffic anyway. Getting a few thousand pages indexed takes the pros less than a week most times so its best to get some SEO knowledge, apply it, then add the Coop as icing on the cake, Not the cake itself.

There is a ton of info here at DP so read through and ask LOTS of questions!
