IF this is indeed the case, then yes, this becomes good news for .co holders: - - - - - - 300,000 .CO regged and going strong: "To put 300,000 registrations in perspective, .biz the domain that is intended to be used for businesses only has 2 million registrations and change to date. The .biz extension was created in 2001. http://fusible.com/2010/07/co-web-addresses-registered-to-date-tops-300000/ .
i do hope .co does well but right now its getting annoying that everyone is jumping on that story from the pc mag after all thats all it is no confirmation nothing official just some guy saying hell i contacted them and they said yes, maybe it was the a wrong number and he got the man from del monte instead the man from del monte he said yes
This is what people said of .me & .tel - but I've yet to see those domain extensions take off. .co doesn't = "company", that's just BS marketing from GoDaddy. It's a country extension, and that's all it will ever be.
i think you're witnessing a snowball turning into an avalanche right now people. For all those saying this is the same thing as .tel, and .mobi, .cm, and .cc, and .tv, and .me...etc al... how about we just end that discussion with the FACT that this .CO launch was the biggest extension launch SINCE the dot-com so there's difference ONE! .. and if all the smartest and most educated domainers are frowning on this extension .. where the hell are they all going? .. SOMEONE'S buying them up in DROVES - WHO?? 300,000+ in a matter of 5 days is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!! There is OBVIOUSLY demand and it's not just from a handful of guys and girls toiling around the forums. - - - - and i will say this... .. i bought a handful of names for resale.. .. however, i bought ONE for myself.... ... i'm SO excited about being able to place my website on this name.. SO STOKED!! i think there are going to be hundreds and thousands of people very similar to me that will appreciate this 'second chance' and jump on the opportunity. - - - - This is why the $400 was worth it to me... .. because it's starting to look more and more like the ones who took a little chance and grabbed a few (JUST to make sure) are the smart ones living without regret (and a promising future - depending on the names or course) and the rest of you who thought this would bomb miserably are SERIOUSLY SOUR for missing one of the 'bigger' opportunities of your domaining careers. (eg.. see IaIn's last post... HATIN' ON US ALL!!... classic denial - CLINGING on to dear life that some report is somehow WRONG... hahahaha... sorry iain, love ya buddy... but i calls em like i sees em. and consider this... if that report was in ANY way wrong or even fabricated, you all KNOW that google would have cleared that up already... i mean, you DO know that, right? I'm sure they have gotten a thousand emails and/or phone calls asking to verify this latest HUGE news and if ONE person was able to get ANY kind of reply from them that so much as HINTS to it being false, the next article floating around the web would have been 'HOLD EVERYTHING - DOT CO NOT INTERNATIONAL AFTERALL' in the age of instant notifications and twitter, this has STILL not happened... explain that as well. Cling to all your bitter denials boys and girls.. i'm just glad i grabbed a couple and can LIVE WITH myself with no matter WHAT happens. NJOY those Grapes Baby!! haha
Deception plays a big part in it. Also, people who think they are actually worth something on the secondary market. The fact is, hardly anyone is buying them from the secondary markets. hahahahaha. nope. regardless of what google does, it is still a ccTLD. Whatever site you have, it actually reads "yoursite.colombia" to ANY professional domainer. Is this the first landrush you've experienced? When did you enter the industry? I'm only asking because of the false hopes you are presenting to others in this thread.
NO ONE will give TWO CRAPS if it was a MLD (MARTIAN LEVEL DOMAIN) as long as they are able to get on page one for their prod name
Regardless of the search engines, you would still lose traffic to the .com variation and would be seen as "one who couldn't afford the .com". Also, as people become more aware of domains in general, they will realize you have a KEYWORDDOMAIN.colombia. Luckily for us, there are hundreds and hundreds of ccTLDs available to choose from. Just last year I managed to hand-reg 5 single letter ccTLDs which I sold very quickly. I'm not a hater of ccTLDs. I'm a hater of ccTLDs that try to be gTLDs and fail. lmao
I own .co domains my main complaint was all people are listening to is some guy at pcpro who seems to think he has the inside info at google seriously cmon you gotta laugh at his article. i have one .co up and running and seeing as i am an seo expert i will see exactly what .co can do and cant i wont listen to anyone else i will see for myself
Yeah definately need more details but guys and gals, its still early. It was only released generally last week so give it a little time. In the meantime try and sort out content for your sites and see how they do. iain123 i'd be very interested in seeing your findings once your done I myself have done nothing at all on the my sites except park with sedo and they have had a little traffic already.
not going to any great length but using original content and i will do what i usually do for sites i work on see what happens
I will be live tonight with the 'Design Company' site I rushed the design - not entirely too pretty to look at - i cheated at every corner, removed as many bells and whistles as possible, very simple design, white, clean and hopefully something that won't seem dated if i fail to update in a year (very possible haha)... but TONS of original content, very fast to load and none of these files have ever been on the web in any capacity. My portfolio is large so there is a lot - all optimized graphics, no missing alt tags, no missing title tags, no dead links - file names and page names all exact names and related - title tag is specific for each, all keywords and words in title are included in the body ... optimized like crazy!!! From an SEO perspective, i should be able to provide a very good 'test site' for everybody. I will FWD my original company name to this site, and i am also forwarding the newest 'CommercialPrinter.co' name to this site as well i will report back once i launch later on tonight - for better or worse, i'm going live. ...til then
The internet was just pure speculation not that long ago. I believe that the .co has that has “jeux ne se qua†that .org and .info never had. just my 2 cents. Here is my list, not sure what I will do with it develop or flip: carinsurancequotes.co creditcardapplication.co CreditCardDebt.co getoutofdebt.co homeinsurancequotes.co onlinecreditcard.co prepaidphones.co websitemarketing.co If anyone is interested...
I have a pure GEO .co on auction at Flipping.co. Let's see what the immediate demand is for this type of name
