ccTLDs were created for countries to use. Thus, they are not gTLDs. How many businesses do you see advertising a .US domain for instance? It's totally unprofessional. Is is the same for .co - if a business were to advertise it as such.
make yourself a nice cup of coffee (LARGE) SIT BACK AND READ THIS http://www.iana.org/reports/2009/co-report-24nov2009.html every single person who bought or is interested needs to read this
but read this FIRST Google approves .co domain for international use "While the .co domain is still assigned to Colombia at the moment, a Google spokesperson said that would soon change. "We will rank .co domains appropriately if the content is globally targeted. Webmasters will soon have the functionality to be able to specify this by using the geotargeting options in Google Webmaster Tools." http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/359704/google-approves-co-domain-for-international-use
yeh but iana against pcpro everyone who is commenting needs to know the facts and exactly how this has come about this report will do that
So, all of you .co'ers. Are you buying the domains because you think you'll be able to resell them? Or are you buying them to develop?
i have one of my .co domains developed already just about to add a hell of a lot of unique content to it will be interesting to see how google treats it
well i think it's too early for anything official, hopefully soon enough we hear it directly from big G. google got google .co and the Columbian version is http://www.google.com.co/
i bought ONE for me, (i have a small graphic design company) so i bought 'DesignCompany.co' i pre-regged 'LogoDesigner' but lost !! everything else is for selling. (fingers crossed)
Nope, it seems there are no buyers :/ You could argue the e.co sale but 1) It's a 1 letter domain 2) It was a publicity stunt 3) Proceeds went to charity of winner's choice
people aren't really going to spend good money yet with so many good names still available... .. this is the ONLY chance everyone has to get in on this game without forking over bigger money later, so they're most likely concentrating on grabbing the best they can with this small window of opportunity. can't blame 'em... i'm still plugging away myself - - - - - - - - i do agree that e.co was a marketing ploy... they are placing that right back up for auction already ... but O.co ($350,000) was still pretty big news for a 'yet-to-be-released' extension
That's because there is no buyers market. The smart thing to do is: 1) Identify a strong buyers market. 2) Jump into it. There is a market for .co domains, however I believe that market resides in domains that assist Colombia in terms of web presence.
.co will be a little better than .cm , will have some nice sales, but in my opinion it will be forgotten after 1 -2 years
Totally agree. At the moment its pure speculation. Of course we will find out how the aftersale market does soon enough but its just fun to ride this wave. For me anyway
.CO is aiming to take a big chunk of the .COM marketplace: http://fusible.com/2010/07/co-is-aiming-to-take-a-big-chunk-of-the-com-marketplace/
I purchased many good .co domains and receive a letter from name saying that they will contact the buyer when they finishing their arrangements, but why all this talks about .co as many other domain extensions available, what the hidden magic behind .co??
