Hi maybe someone can shed some light on this...

what domain extension is better for indexing in google and other search engines?

    india

    .co.in

    .in

some countries have more than one domain extension, does anyone know the purpose or .in compared to .co.in ?

    thanks!

Not a huge difference, but a keyword.in will probably sell more than a keyword.co.in. If you're planning on making a website with one of these extensions, it's a good idea to register or buy the other so you own both the .co.in and the .in.

co.in is currently used by multinational companies. .in is recommended for a general website.

However there are no rules which prohibit a general website to have a co.in extension.

    Indexing wise- no difference.

Sahara, Vodafone, Ebay and AOL use .in for their Indian sites.

Indexing wise it does not matter. But it can affect the way search results appear. For example .in domains will list ahead of say .us domains for a search term from India. The reverse is true for a search made in the US.

I like the .IN too. Suriname's domain name extension is .SR, I'm happy it's not .COM.SR like many other countries. Or .CO.SR like UK :p

I guess there is no difference between the domain names, unless it's .info and .name :)

Many companies like .co.in more than .in.

But I like .in cause shorter.
