better .com for any .xx domain, you cannot change your GEO target. But if you do not need change GEO target, it might be an advantage
.Com still rules the Search Engines from so long! i prefer to .com because more people are involved in .com technology rather than other new domain extensions
There are many sites that are doing well in .co and other extensions. Mostly they presented so well their information and the information was appropriate enough accordingly to the sites...
Above ones already said .com is much better compared to .co and I totally agreed with them. However, if you cannot use .com and have to choose another domain extension, net / org is the better way to go than .co in most seo aspect I could think of.
Google algorithms are changing all the time so what might work today might not work in a week from now

Depends what you intend doing with the domain. A .co may do much better if you are targeting local traffic only. Many .co.uk are also doing well on Google and even outranking the .com's but it all depends on quality of content.
Exactly .. You may choose something else only if you are targeting a specific area like France .fr or England .co.uk
I think it depends on what you're using the site for. If you're hoping people will type the name into your search bar, then .com is the way to go. If you're trying to flip the site, .com, .net or .org are best (though .com much better than the other two, most of the time). If you're just trying to bring people to your site through regular traffic methods, it shouldn't make a difference.

it will be a tld..... i want it to target uk.... as in website.co and go to wbc and target uk market...

Sure .com is everytime better than any other domains out there. You get an extra advantage for your SEO efforts. You will get lots of old domain .com if you look out there for one. Try to find the best .com you are looking for and if you dont get the domain then look out for org. But first preference is always .com
