    Hi,

I've heard different opinions, does Drupal cause a heavy server load (compared to a similar amount of visitors on other CMS).

Which CMS have the lowest server load?

    Thanks much.

    Hey There,

I don't use drupal, but from what I've ready, I'd say it's certainly on the heavier end of the scale in terms of load. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

They have a page which talks about tuning Drupal performance:
    drupal.org/node/2601

Just reading the article kind of scared me...

Yep, I might have read the exact same thing several months ago.
Any thoughts on a CMS which can easily handle moderate traffic, without huge server strain?

    Thanks.

I would say any CMS can handle moderate traffic, especially if you hand-tune it and cache the most visited pages.

If your moderate traffic is in few thousand uniques per day I would say that you can use any CMS. If you have tens/hundreds thousands per day then well you probably should rent a server anyway.

I'll try this and see if any accounts get suspended quickly.

    Thanks, for good advice. :)

    Hey,

I have used ExpressionEngine (pmachine.com) on a few projects. I like it's flexibility. There's a little bit of a learning curve. It has pretty good caching ability, so that could help your cpu load. Of course, the use of a cache has trade-offs and may not be appropriate depending on the type of site you're trying to build.

Drupal 6 (currently in early-Beta) is supposed to feature greatly reduced server load. This is great news for Drupal users, and people who might want to try it soon.
