NOTE: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PROJECT CAREFULLY. What I need done: It's essentially a mashup. I want to create a paid subscription site for a particular industry. Let's just say it's for real estate professionals. The site will be marketed to realtors, real estate marketing consultants, internet consultants, website developers, etc. It will have typical community features such as forums with integrated wiki, articles and simple social network. The forums need to also have mailing list/listserv type integration (see mail2forum.com for ideas) Those are all paid features. The non-paid features include a digg style system and a publicly viewable blog. What I already have versus what the provider will build: Nothing to speak of. I have tried playing around with the various forum/wiki integrations out there and just can't find a suitable solution (that I'm capable of configuring). I'd have even more trouble trying to add the other features. I will say that the following may make the winning bidders life easier. - forum & mailing list integration has been accomplished by mail2forum but is currently only compatible with phpbb2 (not 3). - forum & wiki integration has been done by ipbwiki.com (invision power boards and mediawiki. Also there is something called vbwiki (vbulletin and mediawiki) - http://www.zacker.org/magic-groups-screencast is a drupalized yahoo groups (mailing list) with a basic vanilla wiki I can't figure out how to put it all together conveniently into a CMS. Other context/requirements that providers will need to know: Forums AND Wikis will have certain levels of access: Guest, Registered, "Paid Registered" and "Paid Realtors" Only realtors will have access to a few special categories in the forum and wiki pages (that the web consultants and other subscribers could not see, even with a paid membership). Forums should be able to have "automatic wikification" - if someone types in "foreclosure market," then the phrase foreclosure market will automatically be linked to the wiki. (This is apparently a real concept in the ipbwiki.com solution) Wiki editing should have a wysiwyg editor with simple version tracking and the ability to select moderators. Mediawiki is okay, but you'd have to figure out how to dumb it down a bit. Wiki moderators defined by forum groups. The forums should set the stage for the wiki (not the other way around). "Digg" feature is accessible to all levels, including guests (but guests cannot comment without registering. The social network (myspace feel) is less important and should not dominate. Basic friend adding function on a forum profile page is fine. Affiliate program: In short, there will be an incentive for a paid subscriber to refer another member. I will go into more detail in the private message boards. Everything should be easily skinned and CSS friendly. I really like the clean look of sites like elance, joyent.com, intabill.com, startupnation.com, basecamphq.com, iswirl.com, gmail.com, shyftr.com, rememberthemilk.com...basically clean, whitespace, subtle colors. Think Web 2.0. Specific expertise that I am seeking: You should have mashup experience, the ability to make one login for all registered features, look and feel can be outsourced so long as you make it easy to retemplate and css. Completely custom code not required but site needs to have a backend and should be able to be templated seamlessly Timeframe: ASAP but I'm flexible. 2-3 weeks max. Budget: 500-750, not a min or a max. I'll consider hourly. I will use escrow but will only put it in 10% at a time (at various levels of project stages.) This is a sizeable project but knowledgeable coders should not have much trouble. Winning bidders are welcome to subcontract or work with partners. You WILL be kept on for project modifications, terms to be discussed after initial launch. Please PM me your questions or bids (portfolios preferred as well!) DO NOT POST PUBLICALLY IN THE THREAD EXCEPT FOR GENERAL QUESTIONS. (yes, this is also posted on Scriptlance and Elance)
I've been doing further research on bridges/integrations. This is what I've found and may affect your bid (lower or higher!) OR make the project less complicated and scary Bridges that exist: - phpbb2 & listserv/mailing list (mail2forum.com) - phpbb2 & pligg (http://forums.pligg.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1) OR (http://forums.pligg.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=29) - phpbb2 & joomla cms (http://tinyurl.com/3cqre2) OR (http://tinyurl.com/ypm9s2) - phpbb2 & wordpress cms (http://www.wp-united.com/features) - phpbb2 & social network (http://mpsmod.com/) I have not found a suitable solution for phpbb2 and a wiki script. There is an attempt at phpbb and mediawiki but it is for phpbb3. Remember, the wiki should only be accessible to CERTAIN user groups (as defined by phpbb). Can't decide on joomla or wordpress as a CMS. I'm not sure how capable wordpress is as a CMS, but everyone keeps saying how powerful it is. I've tried joomla before and was a bit overwhelmed, BUT I will consider using it if you think it's the best option. Drupal doesn't seem to be able to work with phpbb so I've pretty much scratched this off the list. As you can see phpbb2 will be the central script (since most of the work has been done by others). Also, I'll just clear up the issue about the affiliate program now. It is subcription referral based. Example: Subscription is $5/month. Every person a user refers will earn him $1/month as long as the referred user remains a subscriber. So if User A refers User B, User A will earn $1 for every month that User B is a subscriber. User A WILL continue to pay $5 a month, but may receive checks/paypal for every paying user he refers. NOTE: User A MUST be a paid subsciber to receive referal payments. If User A unsubscribes, he will not be entitled to any future referral payments. Amember.com and possibly post affiliate pro (http://www.qualityunit.com/postaffiliatepro/) might help with the affiliate/referral feature (integration using phpbb as the main framework) I will continue to seek bids based on this new information. Please ask questions before bidding. Hope this clears everything up!
