Can a cms be bolted to an already built site or does cms work by installing phpnuke or joomla etc and directly editing their templates? I can build basic html sites but want to offer my clients a cms, so how is the best way this is achieved
you would have to install the CMS then edit the templates, add mods etc. probably best installing a demo somewhere and having a mess about with it first.
sure, you could install the cms in a subdirectory and integrate it with an existing site. if you wan't to impress client I'd say Joomla is your best option because of the wealth of templates and plugins to chose from Johan
great im installing a tester site as we speak, but i am getting A database error occurred: Access denied for user: 'surfcams_admin@localhost' to database 'the out side world' SQL=CREATE DATABASE `the out side world` when trying to install, any ideas?
Yes again to joomla.. You can integrate your existing site via several methods with joomla. there is the wrapper, there is static files such as the joomla license that is installed with other sample data. Run Digital has a nice little PHP include mambot that will let you include your existing files into a page. there is also a module called staticxt that lets you use static files.
if you were starting a new brief for a client, would it be best just to install a cms, choose a few nice templates, re brand it for them and then let them do the rest? Also I am flat out constantly at the moment, so if any cms experts wanna pm me about doing some cms sites and also cms with a shoping cart etc etc which I can just brand and sell on, then let me know
