CMS for user-driven statistics service

    Hi all,

    I was just hired by a company to develop a website that essentially is a user-driven statistics service.

    Basically, the entire site will be for registered customers. The customer is to log on, and be able to see data and statistics that in some way need to be transferred from external hardware (in this case, elevator statistics that is to be transferred via GPS to the (Windows) server). So what's needed is the potential for that type of data communication to take place, as well as the integration of graphs and visual for data presentation.

    I've mainly worked with simple sites in Wordpress, but I'm thinking it's not a powerful enough tool for creating a service like this? Would Joomla be, or should I just give up the idea of open-source CMS altogether?
