Okay I need two solutions; 1. I need a CMS for managing articles and stuff, the basic cms things but also needs to be customizable for users to create projects and stuff like http://sourceforge.net/ Maybe Joomla with a plugin? where can I find a place for custom joomla development? 2. I need a CMS that is brandable for client for article / resource managment. Please post all suggestions
This is definitely doable with Wordpress. Personally, I'm a huge fan so hey.. but almost anythign can be done with it. Alot of people consider it a blog platform but it really is much larger than that. I've used it in all my projects and have always found it easy to administer and adapt to my needs.
You use a lot of plugins for wordpress to achieve a CMS feel? But I think wordpress can only be used on the second need, the first one needs a more powerful CMS?
Take a look at Subdreamer - http://www.subdreamer.com Its a commercial grade CMS with a wide variety of features. Even if you and your customer loose contact with each other, they will still be able to get professional support through subdreamer. This CMS also integrates with Vbulletin and IPB, so if your customer decides to add a forum later on, they will be able to. Check out the features - http://www.subdreamer.com/features One of the main considerations is your customer finding support. With open source, community supported CMSs, support can be far and inbetween. Regardless of what anyone says about joomla support - I posted questions in their support forum almost 2 years ago that were never answered. 2 years is a long time to wait to get help with your site. That is one of the main reasons why I left the joomla community. Is that what you want for your customer? Or do you want to provide them with real tech support so their site can stay up and running.
well, you could use a article or news management script. There are plenty of opensource and paid scripts. Have a look here: http://best-php-scripts.com/news_publishing.htm
