Hi DP members, I am going to start a large travel & vacation portal and i am not sure which CMS to choose, there will be more than 1000 pages of static content and probably need to implement directory and forum, so i am not sure which CMS will suits best with me. I am thinking about Joomla. Do you think this will be the best choice? Please suggest any ? Kind regards Kal
Joomla should be able to help you organise content into categories or 'statically'. Forums can also be implemented easily with the membership system.
I agree with everybody - implementing forum is easy, and business directory add on is not very expensive. I think i will stick Joomla
There are commercial real-estate, vacation rental components for joomla which you may find useful. Check at the joomla.org extensions directory.
I think no "best choice" here, only "suitable" choice. Joomla is free and good but without official support. However, you can get help from forums like here.
joomla is great have lots of modules, components and plugins but yes security is a big concern and as you mentioned 1000 or may be more in future you can use drupal also drupal is faster than joomla more secure but less module than joomla u should have good knowledge of programming if you going for drupal
I offer Joomla and phpbb3 installation and development services, I can assure you Joomla is the best. I use it and I can recommend it
Hi kalseo, I would also recommend Drupal. It is faster then joomla and also more secure, like rokerz said. The learning curve is steeper but you have many good and professional modules. I found Drupal much more flexible with his taxonomy-structure and the CCK and Views Modules. There are many good books for this CMS and the community is also very friendly and helpful. But it always depends on what you need. Check the Modules and see some of the Sites that are made with Drupal.
