I have just begun a political campaign regarding the city of Santa Cruz (see signature). I want to get going on this NOW. Usually, Google treats me great. I get everything indexed in less than a week. Not this time. The ONE TIME I really need fast indexing, and I don't get it. NOBODY lives by the rules closer than I do. Doesn't matter. It is so sad, and irritating, that I must tell people - "Yeah, just search on Yahoo or MSN." I don't want to do this. Google ranks my index page, and my site map, for the 5-word phrase Surf City Santa Cruz xxxxx, with xxxxx being many different words. These words are FROM the page, so Google knows all about it. But the actual page is ignored. This is going to have a bad long-term effect, with many others sending folks elsewhere. This "everything new=bad" philosophy of Google is not going to serve them well. It is a no-brainer to leap to another engine, where my data IS INDEXED. It is also AN IMPERATIVE. Thoughts?
Whoops. Ten hours later, and I am smiling. Google came through, in style. I just have no patience. Thank you, big G. Now I can do my hours of testing, and modifying. SEO, ya know. There is no page whose content cannot be improved!
It's just that Google has spoiled me, with excellent, fast indexing, for so long. I just got too impatient, because of this one "time is of the essence" page. Normally, I am very patient, and don't even care, because I know that Google does a much better job than either MSN or Yahoo. If you follow the rules, G will treat you right (fairly predictable ranking). At M or Y, who knows where your ranking will be? And WHEN? I think I need to look into how RSS works for this kind of speedy indexing issue.
it took my site over a week to be properly indexed - before that the only way you could get see it was to type in the actual url! big G still doesnt show up any of my backlinks though
