I have decided to close down my finance forum. Even though, it is a moderately successful forum, I find it time consuming. I have decided to lock the forum and instead make a blog on the same site. This post briefly explains the problems that I am facing with this forum. Am I doing the right thing?
Pick up an assistant from your memberbase to help you with everyday tasks. I think it's bad idea to shut down an already established forum.
Are you serious ? It seems you have given a lot of hard work and time for this forum, its really appreciable. Instead of just closing it down, you can sell it for auction. I am sure you will get a decent price. I am just advising you because I feel very sad to just let go of all the efforts and hard work which has been invested by you as well as the members of your forum. I hope you change your mind and sell it or give someone else to run it
They can't even moderate themself.... Since the last 1-2 years, I wasn't really running the site as a commercial venture and even now I don't want to sell it off. As I have posted, I will prefer to lock the forum and add a blog on the same forum.
Don't just give an opinion with no real suggestion, @sachin - I am sure you have already thought of distributing mod work to your members and decided against it. You know your site best. I support your decision to lock the forum and create a blog instead. The traffic to your forum will remain and you can instead have a live and active blog instead. Not to mention forum makes your load goes high. All the best.
Sell it and move on. At least this gives it a chance to succeed for the members under a new owner. You're actually doing them a disservice by simply closing the site. You have a forum with moderate value. It will sell.
If you need an admin look me up.....im well known with vBulletin. Had my site but i need to get rid of some bills to get it back up. Im sure i can help out alot with yours
