    Edit: I agree with below opinion (by danasurvey). one can also use automatic forwarding facility from yahoo mail to any other mail.

    If it were me, I'd keep the account open. It's possible a past contact or prospect would try and get in touch with you at the old Yahoo email address. And that could cause you to miss that communication.

    mnmani gave the correct procedure. You should keep in mind that a closed account cannot be reactivated. So, is not it better that you keep the account as it does not cost you?

    Same as the previous comment, you should reconsider in closing your account : its good and bad effects. In one side, you can lose contact with someone whose contact you've saved before. At the other side, you don't need to spend your time in managing your Yahoo! mail. It is up to you, but reconsideration before making a decision is always the best thing for all manners... :)

    I closed my Yahoo account months ago too. Too much spam received via e-mail and Yahoo messenger. Plus, it is one less place that has my information.

    I think if you don't open your Yahoo account for 6 months, they will automatically close your account. Hope this helps...

    In my opinion, i think its better to just leave the account activated instead of closing it even if you don't need it anymore.

    I think Yahoo is the best for seo and there is no need to delete your account but any way if you not use your account for few months say6 months it will automatically delete your account.
