Close look to CTR

    Hi all,

I want to optimize my campaigns running at AdWords and i believe one of the first things to do is to set right scheduling for ads. To understand what time frame gives better CTR it would be helpful to have some kind of a chart that displays CTR for every day hour. I couldn't find such option in Adwords that has only Campaign performance chart by days. Doesn't anyone know of a such functionality?

Use analytics. I find with certain products the best time is between 9AM-5PM (Australian time). I have not looked into the US.

You can get an hourly report in Adwords for most metrics (though not conversions).

Select the report type that you want (from the reports tab), then set the Unit Of Time to Hourly.

I wouldn't recommend optimising based on clickthrough rate, however.

CustardMite: Agreed CTR is not the main characteristic of a successful campaign, but it still affects cost of click so
i'm always trying to get CTR not less than minimum. I consider 4% as a minimum for search campaigns and 0.25% for content network campaign.

You can't consider a 4% CTR as a good CTR on the search network because for some niches and keywords a 1.5% CTR is good and for other niches and keywords a 10% CTR is good.

CTR varies a lot from one niche to the other, from one keyword to the other...

Your competition is also a big factor...
