I have heard of several clone websites for major sites like youtube as well as other major websites. Question is are these sites legal to use? If I were to change everything in them to fit my clients site is there any copyright issues to worry about? (Granted my client allows me to use such)
Issues with the clone sites? There shouldn't be, as long as the code is 100% original, and as long as you don't name your site an exact copy (eg "youtube").
refer to the design, I want to use the design of a site but change the content and idea completly. It will have the same (very very general idea) but will be focused on 1 industry only. I am not looking at making the next niche site either I am doing this site as sort of a public service to people in my industry so I understand I will do good to break even on costs. I am wanting a clone site of something like the idea of ripoff report.com but like I said it will be 100% different. Maybe you can point me in the direction of a script, I need to have a searchable database where people can search someone and see reviews of them from other people. Like I said this is industry specific
I have had lots of clone sites - just change content completely in one of them (provided there are 2) - and it is going to be all right
It's not only about cloning, it's about promoting those sites. With a small marketing budget, you just won't make it.
