My name is Mat and I am the Director of Operations at Brit-net. I just wanted to address the "they will charge me over the odds for the script" comment, which seemed rather unfair.

We don't use pre-made scripts at all. Each online solution that we develop for a customer is developed for them to meet the specific needs of their business. This probably seems "over the odds" compared with downloading pre-made scripts, but the success of projects that we develop in this manner more than justifies the initial outlay - which often isn't as much as people expect anyway.

Our approach also helps people develop successful, viable online businesses rather than just cheap copies of more successful sites that will struggle to succeed.

We've been working with mypropertyforsale.co.uk since 2001 and are proud to have been part of making it one of the UKs top private sales websites. I won't deny that we have billed healthily over those years, but I am quite confident that the owners wouldn't consider the charges to be "over the odds" in light of the returns the work has achieved for the business.

Like most good developers, we don't work on any projects that are a request to clone another's intellectual property anyway (we actually get asked about this at least monthly regarding this site alone). Putting the legal & ethical issues aside, these projects rarely succeed which is not good for us or our clients. However, it would have been nice to have at least been contacted about pricing before having defamatory assumptions about our pricing made on a forum.
