I heard cloaking can ban you from the search engines. To what degree is this true and is the following scenerio considered cloaking? When promoting/describing some of my affiliate products on my website, if I were to cloak a "click here" for more information with my affiliate link for the product, can this effect my SEO negatively? Also if I have a banner on the same page with the same affiliate link code can the affiliate desipher if the click came from the banner or the "click here" link? Just curious if it is a negative thing to describe some of your affiliate products and then direct your visitors with a simple "click here" link rather than a ugly affilliate link? And what the typicall affiliate companies opinions are on it? Comments?? Recommendations??
Cloaking can get you into trouble. But a lot of people confuse 'cloaking' with redirecting affiliate links. Cloaking IMO means showing the search engines different content then the human visitor is shown. Not redirecting or altering links for everybody. A lot of the top sites on the web use redirecting. I have used php & javascript on links, actually never saw a big positive or negative effect to tell you the truth... Re: 'click here', in most cases you can use whatever text you want in a link...
