Cloaking Question

    Hi,

Just discovered that one of my customers is unknowingly cloaking. I asked them about it and they didn’t realize that displaying different info to visitors than what they display to the engines is a bad thing. They readily admitted they are intentionally displaying different info. However once I educated them on cloaking they immediately corrected the situation.

My question I am hoping you can answer is this. Do I need to do anything else at this point, like notify Google myslef in case they have already been reported and Google is evaluating what to do. Or have I done all we can do and just leave it alone.

    Any Feedback is appreciated. Thanks

And the site url would be? Best thing to do would be to set up redirects between the url's.

So what they are doing is just displaying different content to viewers and the search engines.

I can't give the url unfortunately as they are a client and don't want to jeopardize them in any way.

    Appreciate the help.

    Thanks

Why are you setting redirects? 301 redirects or ?
Any way the best advice i can give is to just keep quiet and move on. Wait for the next Google index, if your site is still in the webmaster tools then just leave it alone because Google takes quite a while to penalize all sites.

Thanks for the feedback. You are the 2nd person who has mentioned the 301 re-direct. We aren't doing any now but will but we do have several domains we need to use the 301 on.

Can I ask you to explain a bit more about how redirects play in this? They were just displaying different info to the engines as they were to viewers.

    Thanks again, really appreciate it.

If the site in question has a pagerank and most of the pages are getting indexed, I would say that the cloaking hasn't hurt you. Just remove the cloaking and move forward.

I think cloaking is better to use your keyword is not yet at the top of SERP but this is too risky.
