Hello, I'm new in Commission Junstion and I just applied to my first advertiser. I have viewed all the training seminars but I still have some questions: 1) Is it possible to cloak the links in Commission Junction? 2) Is it also possible to cloak image and banner links? 3) If it's possible to cloak links in Commission Junction, do my links still work in the reports of Commission Junction. Will these cloaked links be counted in my statistics? Hope you want to help me. Thanks, www.online
I'll try my best to answer your questions: 1) It depends on what you mean by cloaking. CJ does not allow you to create personalized URLs (e.g. sitename.com/keywordoradvertiser) within their interface although they let you encrypt their links. If you're using a WordPress site, you can use a plugin like PrettyLinks or some hosting providers have a feature to cloak links within their admin panel. 2) I'm not sure why you'd want to do this so I'll skip this question. 3) I've been using PrettyLinks to cloak my links and it HAS affected my stats, particularly my impressions. They do not show up properly. I haven't been able to find a tool that allows me to cloak my links easily AND shows up on CJ's reporting. If you or anyone else does, please let me know.
Cloak Redirect Mask... all a bit different. The answer to your question is with some methods it works and with others it doesn't. And yes you can do this with images as well. What is important is you check your cookies in a couple of different browsers. If you alter the CJ code it will definitely alter CJ's ability to track and display accurate statistical information. And make sure the program allows it... some do not.
Thanks for your replies. For me as a newbie in Commission Junction I was really struggling with this. Maybe Commission Junction can learn publishers more about cloaking links in their training seminars. Thanks,
