I thought I was being smart by hiding long, ugly affiliate links by cloaking them with the below method (a webpage redirect - page on my site). For the second Google update in a row, I lost PR (OUCH). I was told this does not affect PR - was I lied to? [html from a webpage hosted on my site] <html> <title>Negative Programming Gone</title> <frameset rows="0,*" framespacing="0" border="0" frameborder="0"> <frame scrolling="no" noresize> <frame scrolling="auto" noresize src="http://www.icaptech.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=730_6_1_5"> </frameset> </html> Does Google frown upon this? I am about to go back to the long, ugly, able to steal commissions affiliate links. Any expertise regarding this?
I have read that google punishes people for using this tactic, that's probably why you lost your page rank.
if you create 301 redirect from captech.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=730_6_1_5 to captech.com , you will not loose anythink
Thanks. I hit a brick wall with my hosting account AGAIN. Per my hosting company (Yahoo!) "Yahoo! does not currently allow you to upload .htaccess files to your account". I guess I will be switching hosts.
Free hosts.. brrrr .. go away from these services. 1.5 euro per month, 100 gb / month traffic, 1 gb place on server - perfect offers everywhere. Why you need free host?
