We've seen in the News how Google can turn events to their own advantage and endorse the Chinese version of freedom. No surprise really as it seems to me that the world-wide-web may as well be renamed wwG. The fact that websites are either sandboxed or not, paid for adsense or not, countries supported or not...! This beggers belief... ! our naivety is obviously real,,, so different to what the www in its innocent purety was all about in the first place. Run, run, run around and please your search engine master-of-the-day. Forget the rhetoric that control, power and money combined is more powerful a temptation for those who have more and 'want more'. You are smarter, you're fine with that model so long as you earn $$.. Spend a couple more thousnds overcoming the sandbox and simply ride the changing-tide using adsense, keywords, content and various other tools handed to you from the freedom search engines that appear to replicate themselves by reflection and manipulation of web-already-present-content. Regardless of the sentiment (You can't duplicate because I AM!!) It's all so much nonsense... Get a life, wake up and see that there is no such thing as freedom on the web.... (Possibly nowhere convenient for armchair citizens - in fact) Perhaps a new Chinese Proverb! 'I see with google eye-glasses what the glass lets me see. All else is just in my mind.....' I respect the ancient, ignore the new, dissallow what the public repeats, for I know better what you are prepared to pay for... Me and my dictation! Scepticism? I don't think so .... Wait 'n see
The internet is the last place we have freedom at, even though it is being taken away. The Internet is also the only place left where there is a true "free market" and you don't need half a million dollars up front just to start a business.
Please, all this sceptism against google. You need to put this in a perspective. Sure, google is the biggest out there right now, but search is still in it's infancy. Building cars takes 100'ds of millions in R&D, building plants takes another 100 million, producing your first car rolling out of the plant will take another 100. Building a new search engine with a genuine unique algorithm takes 3 years of university (+ you get a degree as a free bonus) your spare time and a rich dad. Google isnt a monopoly, far from. They'll have a long fall the day they step over the line, and they know it. I wouldnt be soo worried if I were you.
