There isn't much that you can do now.

Next time, avoiding working for people who don't have any iTrader feedback.

You could have uploaded the site to your own domain and showed him.

For images, you could have used low quality images, used images with your watermark etc.

Yeah i created a action in photoshop that watermarks all my images to be exported and saved for the web. ( optimized ) This way when i have a live preview the full coded live version has my watermark on every image element on the page by default.

The downside is the client may or may not approve but your defence should and always be you are protecting your work & valuable time and as such these measures are necessary.

I do not recommend that approach to every client. Please be aware that use your common sense when apply such methods. I personally only do this method on low paying clients ie from DP

Most of the time you should develop and show customer a working product, but on your own server/hosting. When everything is approved and complete, you upload it/implement it on your customer's server. When you have things on your own hosting, you can also implement a simple script which prevents the user from right clicking to view the source code or being able to download images.

Always get an upfront payment (25 to 50% or so) to cover costs. If the client isn't willing to pay you a part payment, then walk away. Don't work for free, and don't give them the finished product before they pay the rest if the % owed.

I'd not recommend using low quality images because the client would not be able to imagine the website as it should look. But a watermark is a good idea but I would hope that this would not be necessary. I've never had such problems dealing with clients. Checking the itrader score is a good idea.

I totally agree. iTrader is very important, if its low or non-existant then request payment upfront (cleared). If they have a good iTrader rating then its worth the risk as a good iTrader generally means a professional buyer/seller
