client ID?

I am currently tracking backlinks on DP, and remember vaguely that some Google account was needed to start that, unfortunately only vaguely.
Was that the Adsense client ID, or some other account?
How then does one get the client ID? I signed on as a publisher, but saw no such ID# yet.

    It's a Google API key.

Alsenor, you may be speaking of two different things. One is an API Key which I believe is an automatic acceptance into the program. The other is your AdSense ID#, and you need to receive confirmation that they have accepted your website into the program.

It is usually only a day, and as long as your website is not a personal one or has adult content, you should receive confirmation very soon.

Looking over your links, I noticed that you have things that are adult related. Did you submit as one of those or one of the other websites? I am thinking that because of your url's that you may not get accepted into the program. Others here would know better.

The adsense ID is what I am looking for now, which is what we need to share in the ad rev here. But as you say, it may still show that # when and if they accept the site.
I did wonder about the adult content as well, but it is such a gray area that I wasn't sure where they draw the line. I picked the eroticArt site, which has ostensibly different values.
The other links, like poker, casino, dating, are just subs of a straight-out adult site, while eroticArt is a distinctly separate site.
    Can you judge that?

I have not heard of any adult site being approved for AdSense. Since I do not visit said sites, I have no real way of knowing either. Anthony would know best as he spends most of his day at those sites (j/k AC, we are still friends :))

Your client ID is embedded in the HTML source they give you for your ad code.

Your 'credo' does not cause me to change my position that it is adult related. I would not allow my children (if I had time have any) to view your website without supervision.

Just to help you out as well. Here is Google's TOS and what type of sites they do not allow to use AdSense:

    Site Content
    Site may not include:

    -Excessive profanity
-Hate, violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organization
    -Hacking/cracking content
    -Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
    -Pornography, adult, or mature content
    -Gambling or casino-related content
A-ny other content that promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
    -Excessive advertising
-Pop-ups, pop-unders or exit windows that interfere with site navigation, obscure Google ads, change user preferences, or are for downloads. Other types of pop-ups, pop-unders, or exit windows may be allowed, provided that they do not exceed a combined total of 5 per user session
-Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
-Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site's search engine ranking, e.g., your site's PageRank

From what I have seen on your website, it contains both mature content and gambling. I hope this helps.

Yes, it is a site to be appreciatred by adults. None of the other points apply to my site.
Poor kiddies better never set foot in the Louvre either, but stay with their favorite TV program, which is sooo tasteful.
We'll just have to hope that the current standard of upbringing with excessive allowances for immature spenders doesn't change too soon, because if it does, Google viewers may be out of spending power. Luckily for Google these days most kids spend more than they can save in the first half of their lives. [IMG]
If Google wants to be of use to kids only, I am afraid I will have to do without Google.
I will live, but thanks for your heads-up!
