I've been running a website on precious metals for almost 2 years now. At first I didn't even have ads, but as I figured a financial site should be payed ok per click, I started with placing 2 468x60 banners next to each other on the top of all my pages. As the gold and silver prices kept going higher and higher and I got my website ranked nr 1 for most relevant keywords in Holland, the revenues went up slowly each month. 4 weeks ago I changed all my ads to the format as dispayed on http://www.zilver-inkoop.nl/krugerrand.html I was suprised that by just placing 5 ads instead of 2, my revenues went up the same ratio (2,5 times the old click ratio!) Over the last few days I've been thinking of getting an even better ratio, since the last move showed me that placement is critical in getting a decent revenue. So I'm trying to figure out how to get my ads looking less clumsy and more integrated, without losing my visitors' willingness to click on the ads. As an example of my new ideas I came up with the following pages (They're in Dutch, but I'm only interested in the ad placement) Index: http://www.zilver-inkoop.nl/index.html (5% pageviews) Live quotes: http://www.zilver-inkoop.nl/quotes.html (45% pageviews) Coin overview: http://www.zilver-inkoop.nl/coins.html (5% pageviews) Seperate coin pages (45% pageviews) are still the same format as the krugerrand page as I don't want to put too much effort in something that has not yet proven to be effective. (I don't see much change yet in revenues form the last changes I made) I'ld love to get any tips on the best way to optimise the placement on my site without chasing my visitors away. This month I'll change the site to an information resource only. So I don't care if people click on a link of a competitor, my website will be static and my only future efforts will be in getting more visitors to the site.
