I was wondering if the "clicks" on the reporting page updates automatically or if it takes a day or two..I've been trying to test that my links work and it isn't changing. I've deleted my cookies before doing this. Thanks for your help!
It updates once a day. I'm in Slovenia, I think it's GMT 1+ and they update at 14:00. But sometimes, they're so late, its at 20:00.
Ah, I was going to ask the same thing. I haven't been signed up long - a day or 2 in MY timezone - and its stuck at the same really low stats. I guess I haven't had a 'full' day yet, just two part ones, a day behind. Still getting a CTR higher than Adsense, which is quite worrying considering I have Amazon on maybe 2 dozen pages so far and Adsense on all 2500 of em ...
CTR in Amazon only matters when someone buys something Or you mean the basic number of clicks is higher than Amazon? Seems as if you're on a good way, hope you'll sell something soon! Even if it's a book, it tells you it's possible.
Well it means people are at least clicking on the Amazon links ... my CTR from Adsense on that site hovered around 0.01 because the ads were so useless. I've been getting around 3000 visitors a day on that site this month with around $1 a day Adsense earnings, hence the change to Amazon.
Damn..3000 visitors..I'd get ~20$ per day with that. Too bad, cause your site is really good. Did you contact some companies in same niche, to have a banner on your site? I also recommend you to change your Adsense position. That ad on the right side is barely visible. I mean, your site is left orientated so I recommend you to put a small ad on the left side. Or maybe one of these Link Text Ads at the top (right below the A/B/C...) And maybe to maximize Amazon earnings, create a special "Books I recommend" or something in your Navigation menu and then put a few good Amazon books in and explain a little bit.
I just changed the adsense ad - it used to be a wide skyscraper at the top right. I've made it smaller and pushed it right down because it barely pays anyway so why not? I've been changing ads on my best paying (also low paying niche but not so bad) site to have that ad at the top left, link unit on a few different pages, and I had a wide skyscraper on the right too but it got annoying and I swapped it to a banner up top, which surprisingly pays just as well. So much for people not clicking banners. Might try the horizontal link unit at the top on the dictionary, like you suggest. I'm working on putting a "Related books" block at the top right of every page on the dictionary (taking me a while), and it is surprising how many clicks they are getting already, considering I only have them on *some* pages. Got the stats for my first full day and there were 50 odd clicks. Normally I get maybe 0-3 clicks a day with Adsense. Actually 0 more often than 3, so it is *really* surprising . If even one or two of those convert to sales, it'll be more than Adsense. Do amazon text ads count spiders and so forth, or just clicks from Real People? Edit: do you think I should title the block "Related books" or "Recommended books"?
Sorry for not replying, was away. Definitely "Recommended Books", gives your visitors a feelling that the owner recommends Nope, spiders don't count, only real human clicks. You'll just have to work with Amazon like you're doing right now to see what's the best for you.
The UK associates reports update at pretty much 1am GMT every day, its usually no later than 1:20am. The US one I have no idea - I think it is as said before but is much more unrealiable.
