Several times in the past, I've seen my click count running 1 or 2 points higher than my impression count. This happened again today. I have a page that doesn't get much traffic that was showing 3 impressions and 4 clicks this morning. I thought maybe G was running behind in updating stats but it's stayed with those numbers all through the day. My normal ctr always runs very high but that's off the chart. It's not possible for clicks to actually exceed impressions is it? If so, under what scenerio could that occur? Thanks.
someone with firefox could have opened the ad in a new tab, then come back and clicked a second ad. I've seen the scenario you speak of happen a few times myself. There are a couple scenarios I can think of where it might be possible. Either that or a glitch in the adsense impression tracking.
Like 1EightT said, but not only Firefox, but even IE, since it lets you open a link on a new window. Also, someone could have just pressed the back button, and clicked on another ad.
I don't think that's it. I don't click my ads, no one has access to my computer, I don't post my URLs in public forums, and I don't tell friends or family that I use adsense. Plus, my sites are not sites my family and friends would be interested in so there would be no reason for them to visit. In short, I'm very careful about what I do. If it were a competitor going at me, I think they're going to have to a little better than 3 impressions and 4 clicks to get G's attention. The Firefox tabbed browsing that 1EightT mentioned makes sense to me.
