Just found this when I was looking for a CrazyEgg alternative. I knew I had seen one on a .co.uk domain a while back but still can't find it. However, I now found a free FOSS one!

    ClickHeat

Not tried this yet, have any of you used this?

EDIT: Found the one I was looking for, ClickDensity.

    So there's:

    - ClickDensity http://www.clickdensity.com/
    - CrazyEgg http://www.crazyegg.com/
    - ClickHeat http://www.labsmedia.com/clickheat/

    I'll add my own review...

Have it running for a few hours and collected a couple of hundred of clicks. Already made one shocking discovery, people are clicking on my product listing images, probably thinking they get larger versions but no such thing!

Setup of this is dead easy. I didn't have the correct PHP version so I'm missing out on anti-aliasing I believe but who cares... Seeing where they click is pretty revealing and this bit of Open Source code kicks ass. I haven't tried ClickDensity or CrazyEgg (besides demo's) so I can't compare it but ClickHeat is very good value for money, not just because it's free but it's very useful indeed.

You can group pages or individualize them. You can set yourself which URL to overlay the heatmap on. You can set the report date range and pick which browsers to report on. The default view is little red crosshairs where clicks were made. The actual choropleth heatmap doesn't work for me because of the PHP5 requirement but without it it still kicks ass.

I can't wait till I have a few days worth of clicks to analyze!

    Highly recommended!

Thanks for sharing! I was using crazyegg but now this could be a permanent alternative as I dont want to pay for a paid crazyegg account and all I really want is a heatmap. Thanks TOPS3O!

    WARNING:

The second demo link on the clickheat site is popup heaven.

Otherwise known in the adult trade as a circle jerk.

The contact mailto link contains the same name as the owner listed in the whois info for lacoccinelle.net which contains the popups.
