    Hello guys,

I am new into affiliates and i like to become a software affiliate. But, I am into some kind of confusion regarding software affiliates. Incase of ebooks, i understand that people click on my affiliate link, go to the target website and buy the product, then i get commissions.

Okay similar is the case of software affiliates. For example someone clicks my affiliate link http://xxxxx.sspykiller.hop.clickbank.net and goes to sspykiller.com and clicks on the purchase link on bottom and buys the software, then i will get the commissions. BUT what will happen if he downloads the trial version and runs it and when the trial version asks for the serial number, he clicks on "Get serial number" in software window, which will take him to the same purchase page but without my referral link and buys the software from there. I wont get any commissions in that case right ?

I don't know for sure, but you should still get the commission. It's a risky game.

It is easy to check the tracking of clickbank affiliate codes....just follow the sales page links to the clickbank checkout page and scroll to the very bottom. You will see a small text box that says {affiliate=YOURCLICKBANKID}.

If you do not see your ID here than you will not get credit for the sale. Thus, you should constantly monitor your links to make sure they result in proper tracking.

That purely depends upon the cookies. Some offer for the life time, some offer it for a fixed tenure to get the commission.

    Hello aditya,
I have promoted many free trial software sites on CB
and I got commissions when visitors purchased the software after trial.
So, I consider it safe to promote them.
however, be careful with them because you can't check the bottom of the order form for your nickname for these products.

Yeah depends on cookies... Unfortunately many programs wipe cookies these days which sucks for affiliates, coders, etc.

    Here's what I did...

First, go to the page via ClickBank Hop Link. Naturally my aff id will be cookied.

Then, I go to the /purchase page and fill in my bogus details. The news is, on the next page, the purchase button do not work. Using Firefox 2 here.

I will get in touch with the vendor before start promoting. Also, it's a good practice to download the trial and go through the "Get Serial Number" process and see whether your aff id appears at the bottom of ClickBank's payment page.

    Hope this helps.
