Clickbank Product's that Appear to have Physical Goods

I've been looking at Clickbank products a lot in the past few weeks.

I can understand if you are selling an ebook, placing a sort of "book" or "box" image on your site to make it look like you are selling a physical product.

But I'm confused by some of these systems that appear to have multiple DVDs and books. Clickbank only deals with digital products.

What's the deal? Is this a good idea?

All products on Clickbank are digital and all those pictures, ebooks, dvd and boxes are just for branding.

You won't receive anything in post ;)

Last time I checked CB's TOS, you could not use their service to sell physical goods. If you have the DVD looking graphics etc.

It's never a good idea to confuse the people you are trying to sell to.

It is a good idea to put "Digital Delivery" or something similar on the page so you know what you're getting.

I think the idea is: "If this were a book, this is what it'd look like..." "If all of this information was on CD/DVD it'd take this many to hold all of it!" And yes... these pictures seem to improve conversions.

Interesting... Yes they do. I think that's a good idea to add more perceived value to the product. I'd do that but I don't want to actually have to ship something and deal with all of that. It'd be a good idea to do what they do - make the shipped version significantly more expensive so nobody wants to buy it - just so that it makes the download version seem like a better deal. It's all about shaping perceptions.

It boosts conversions like crazy... it gives the customer something to relate to, psychologically, other than empty promises.
