The writing has been on the wall regarding this for a while now after the iPod and PSP P2P sites got shut down a while back. ClickBank will take a revenue hit from this but the integrity of their network will improve and they are dodging a big potential liability bullet.
Ouch I am actually making a fair amount with promoting some of these p2p products, arghh I guess these people will find another away.
I'm suprised it took Clickbank this long to stop allowing P2P sites in their marketplace. I quit trying to promote this stuff about 9 months ago when Google shut down everything I was trying to do in this niche. The writing has been on the wall for some time.
I doubt my myself and Hom#breware will be affected by this. I haven`t received any notice thus so far. Bear in mind that we are not a P2P service, we sell e-books. This is bad news for Wii Download sites though.
I enquired about an iPhone unlock product a while ago, but CB said they weren't approving them. It surprised me how they ARE approving Wii unlocking guides though. Anyway.. this P2P thing has been coming for a while. They can't be seen to be actively supporting piracy and theft. It was nice while it lasted, but someone's finally noticed and they can't take the heat any more. Although with that said, they may not disable existing programs..
I think that's because Apple served them with some notice to stop all Iphone related products where as the other gaming giants haven't...........yet!
When people on earth will learn that P2P is NOT illegal. ILLEGAL is when pirates crack/hack movies/games and other stuff, but when people are sharing their media with others it's freaking LEGAL. Oh my god, movie downloads products on Clickbank are HUGE, such as The Movie Downloads or Net Movie Downloads. I actually started promoting one of these products recently, and made a sale already.......Now they're shutting down these products......GREAT! This will be a lesson for me not to mess with "border-line" products in the future. P.S. Anyone interested in my site, PM me.
As far as I know, the ones on Clickbank just explain you how to use torrents, which IS P2P sharing. P.S. Just to clear this out. Is Clickbank going to REMOVE all existing P2P products, or they just won't be allowing more of them?
They'll be removing them. Because the warning I got was for a product that is already on clickbank. And I'm only an affiliate for this product.
I have seen similar products on Adblaze, Ejunkie and Paydot. So i guess thats not the end of PSP guides. They are here to stay for much more time. An affiliate network based outside of the US (unlike CB) can easily get all that business. I'm not sure though.. Also I am getting very low conversions for a movie download reviews site (less than 1 sale per 250 hops). Anyone experiencing the same?
Many will move to PayDotCom I'm sure and will do fine there. However, there are ways to promote "Movie Download" sites on CB such as this one that is listed in the marketplace: http://FastLegalDownloads.com It's a pretty ugly site, but it might be the only "movie download" site left on CB soon...
Yuck i would never use that site. I estimate clickbank will be loosing around $100 K a day from loosing these sites.
Well,if my favorite sponsors, themoviedownloads/netmoviedownloads, move to another services such as paydotcom it will at least be interesting to see how conversions are affected by it. Recently my conversion with CB has been nothing but a joke, and I suspect quite heavy scrubbing/shaving.
