I've been told to do the following to get sales from a clickbank programme...

    www.xyz.com/?cb=myclickbankuser

    Is this right?

I'm concerned that if I dont do this right any sales I create, I'm not going to get comission for !!!!

Someone actually TOLD or wrote that you should use THAT method? You should make them aware - either they don't know or they are purposely trying to scam their aff's.

Careful - The above 2 posts are correct.

ClickBank marketplace is full of scammers - affiliate revenue stealing by vendors is a big problem there. I frequently examine the vendors' landing pages and found quite a few of those who use encrypted javascript to set their aff cookie on your computer so that they would get the commissions... Hint: if you ever see a weird looking javascript code, decode it and you will frequently find a one pixel frame with the source linked to their clickbank aff id's....

This is great info :) Good of you to point this out to newbs... I will second this, always examine the marketer you're marketing for as a marketer (err..yeah).

    Hello baumann93,
    Thank you for the info.
haven't heard anything like this before.

Why don't you report the matter to clickbank with examples of vendors doing like this.
They can examine it and take action.
    And all affiliates can benefit.

    Thank you

That method of linking is not all that uncommon and is NOT a definite indication that a vendor is trying to scam you or that the vendor is not aware of what he's doing.

Lots of vendors implement an alternate way of linking to their products. They may due so in order to facilitate the selling of multiple products under one clickbank account, to allow an affiliate a choice in landing pages, or to remove the "hop" parameter visitors would normally see in their browser's address bar after clicking through a regular hoplink.

One such site that uses alternate linking codes is beats365.com which is run by a good honest fella who DOES know what he's doing and is NOT out to cheat anyone. Some examples of how you can link to his products can be found here:

    http://beats365.com/paffiliates.html

Now it may be the case that the vendor in psychocandy's post doesn't know what he's doing or is not honest, & I'm surprised that the answers in this thread are so speculative rather than suggesting a means to actually find out if psychocandy's link will work.

It may very well be the case that your link won't work, psychocandy, but here's how you can actually find out if it works instead of resorting to ignorant speculation:

Copy and paste your link (www.xyz.com/?cb=myclickbankuser) in the address bar of your browser. Press "Enter" on your keyboard. When you get to the vendor's page, click the "Order" button. When you arrive at the Clickbank Order page, if you scroll down to the bottom and see the text, "affiliate=none", that means you won't get commission by using that link. If you see the text "affiliate=youraffiliatid", then that means you will get credit.

It's better to find out things for sure when you can than to speculate.

Tried this and, fortunately, my name is displayed as the affiliate.

I've also had several replies to my emails from the purchaser so I dont think they're scamming me, to be honest.

Only trouble is, these alternate links dont show up in clickbank stats...
