I think if you can go with CPA offers, they convert better since all the sale pages are nice looking and the products are way better than CB

Ok, just a general question for anyone with an opinion to answer:

When writing articles, is it better to:
    a) make the entire article into a sale's pitch
    b) make no mention of the product, but include anchor text to your landing page
    c) make the article lead into the sales pitch and only mention the product in the last paragraph or so.

So, say I was selling a book on dog training. Would it be best to:

a)say, "I was searching far and wide on a book to learn how to train my dog, when I found product x"(full sales pitch)
b)talk about various methods of dog training and dog training related things and make key words anchor text to your landing page
c)talk about various methods of dog training and dog training related things and pitch the product in the last paragraph.

I would split test this but no one is clicking on my articles yet lol.

    Generally, I would say C.

I don't like to make the whole article look like an advertisement - some useful info, followed by a partial pitch of the product with a link seems to work well.

Go with "C". First off, Ezine Articles will reject your article if it is a sales pitch. Just talk about dog training and give tips (make it a good useful article) then in the resource box do your hard sell with a link.

    Works like a charm!

I generally go with "C" as well. I don't think I've ever used "A", not for a clickbank product, anyway (I've done it with some CPA stuff).

UM.. Are you guys reading this thread.

    Not A Not B Not C

Have the article land to a Squidoo lens AND and a landing page (You need the landing page to get people's email address).

The question wasn't on where to land, but more of how to ease into where you're landing. I.E., hard sell before the presell page or soft sell before the presell page (which would be the Squidoo lens/landing page).

Also, I don't do any email marketing, but I've been studying it a lot this week so I have to ask- wouldn't it work better to have your opt-in on your landing page instead of creating a Squidoo lens for a presell page and then a separate landing page for email? Most people probably won't navigate back to your article and check out the other link, so you'd lose 50% of your possible leads by having two links (theoretically).

The purpose of the squidoo lens link isn't for people to click on. It's to give the lens higher back link.
And dlm thanks once again for misleading people into the "unprofitable" direction. I hope you can sleep at night.

Nanshi.. If you don't know about email marketing than you shouldn't even talk about my reply.

It's ALL about the landing page. And ALL about the email list.

People normally buy on the 5th or 6th email.

But, it's okay.. Keep listening to the noobs and bad advice.

I should have mentioned that my articles so far typically have 3 anchored links..1 to the landing page, 1 to another main article in articlesbase, 1 in the resource box to the landing page.

Factchecker, why would you want the lense to have a higher backlink? I thought the whole purpose of these links was to give link love to the main articlesbase articles. Or are you saying squidoo is your main article directory, if you use Pete's method at all?

edit: sorry factchecker, after reading it all again I think you're talking about using the lens as a landing page. my bad. :)

The idea is to dominate the searchengines for your keywords... So, you have your squidoo, scrbd, articlebase, ezinearticle, and main website at the top of the engines.

When all are working in conjuction, you win no matter what.

Or, of course you can listen to Dlm and the other people trying to stunt your growth.

@everyone I have to agree with factchecker here. The main point is to dominate the listings on google. Think about it if you have 1 article on google for a keyword you won't get all the clicks, however if you have an article, a squidoo lense, a hubpage page etc on the first page then you will get way more traffic to your lander.

    Thanks

    Pete

So...my squidoo articles should have links to other squidoo articles, hubpage articles to other hubpage articles, go articles to other go articles, articlesbase articles to other articlesbase articles, etc?

I'm pretty sure Pete said somewhere he links all the other directories to his "main" directory which is articlesbase for him. He said he doesn't care if the other directories make it on page 1 of google, they're only there to give back links to the articlesbase articles. edit: obviously I read this wrong lol

I'm having a hard enough time getting on page 2 of google with my articlesbase articles, to diversify the back links even further would seem to do more harm than good, no?

edit: or should I link BOTH to the main articlesbase article and to one or more of the "other" directories?

@madlabs Just to clarify. What I do is use articlesbase as the main directory. I do not link an articlesbase article to another articlesbase article there is no point. I then use the other directories to link back soley to the main articlebase article do not link between the same directories point everything back to the articlesbase article.

With the squidoo lense and hubpages I use other methods to get them listed. Like link building with social bookmarking and also commenting on other lenses drives a good bit of traffic.

    Hope this explains a bit.

    Thanks

    Pete

once again you completely missed the point

The question wasn't about where articles are submitted/linked to/etc. He was asking what the tone of the articles should be. I never argued about Pete's method of using different article sites/directories/lenses/hubs/etc to dominate search engines.

factchecker: you need to stop kissing Pete's ass. You clearly have no idea what you're doing. I'm making as much money as Pete or more in about half the hours of work. But this thread isn't about me. If you want to keep trying to scrap with me, just send me a PM so I can immediately delete it.

Pete is doing a great thing helping other members with this thread, but that doesn't mean everything he says should be taken as gospel (although as I said, I agree about interlinking between articles and pages).

I don't think anyone would disagree that you should dominate for a key term. Although I don't personally interlink articles in the same article I have a link to my landing page.

Whoah! Thanks Pete, now I can stop wasting my time with unnessisary garbage.

So do you use your main articles to link to ANY other articles?

Thanks Pete! But to clarify even further: So the only articles you actively promote to get listed are your main articlesbase article, and your squidoo and hubpages. The other article directories(go articles, searchwarp, etc) don't get promoted. So my question is: why bother to ping and bookmark them if they're not meant to be on page 1 of google, if they're only there for back links to your articlesbase article?
