Well, when I started I was a student...so I didn't have that much time on my hands. But I admit, had I started working 6+ hours a day it would have definitely got me going faster.

    Ah Pete,

I first read your thread when you first started your mission ... have been off DP for a while and when I came back and found your thread still there I was intrigued ... and I've just scanned all 45 pages of it reading your updates!

Awesome work man! You are so going to reach your target. I went to your blog and printed off your 'Day in the Life of the Internet Marketer' post (if anyone here hasn't yet, they should!) and will keep it within reach to remind me the hours necessary to reach success.

I totally agree - too many people think that they will get rich with 2 hours a night. It does take work. It is a job. It's just that it's a job where you're boss ... well, in some ways the $ is the boss, and you are working to satisfy it ... but still ... it requires work.

I've recently stepped up my efforts once again, and your post is a total inspiration and reminder that, when I have those "can it be done moments", I know for sure that it can. Pete did it, and so can I! :D

    Kudos to you Pete!!!

Your thread has not only made me join this forum but also made me re-think my very own approach to affiliate marketing.

So true what has been said about the time and effort you have to put in into ANY kind of business venture. It's not about writing some articles and hoping for the best. You have to thoroughly understand the dynamics behind to make it happen. And this takes time as well as a lot of trial and error. But the important thing is that you keep going.

You did extremely well Pete! I'm sure you will achieve your goal.

When will you be updating us on the stats?

    Chris

    Hi Pete,

I read that you post links back from your squidoo lens page to your main article and money site. Do you post duplicate content on your lens? ie do you copy an article you've already written and then post it on the lens and hub page. If not how many words do you write? Also when you create a hubpage/lens do you promote these by posting in other related lenses/hubs with a link back or do you just write fresh content post a link back to your article and leave it as that. Because I would have thought posting in an already established lens/hubpage that gets a lot more traffic in the comments section would be more beneficial as it is already ranked higher in the SERPS and would give more linkjuice. Thanks

@antantnz thanks for your support I am glad that I could be of some help to you. If I can help in any other way let me know.

@cmt thanks for your words. The stat update will be done at the end of the month. I usually post updates either last day of the month or first day of the next.

@Michelle Usually I post duplicate content onto the other sites changing only the title and the first paragraph. I am not looking for serp results for these articles they are only used for link backs to the main article. With Squidoo I do post on other high placed lenses but that is just for the traffic to the lense then either onto the article or straight to the landing page, However I do not spend much time on this.

    Thanks

    Pete

    Thank you :)

just one more quick question. How did you find a product to promote on Plimus? I have noticed that unlike clickbank which gives details on gravity/popularity etc Plimus doesn't do this so it's extremly difficult to tell what product will be a success when you do not have backround info available.

@Michelle that was my first thought too but with a bit of testing and also some knowledge with some t=of the products and something that I was interested in it helped me. I did test a lot of products. I usually go with my gut feeling on products and also look at landing pages , sales pitch that sort of thing and just test test test. It is a bit time consuming but when you hit a winner it really does pay off.

    Thanks

    Pete

    hi pete,

Ezine is crap, an articles submitted on aug 30th is still in initial review! so i took your advice and have switched to AB, but 3 days since they've gone live and my articles aren't even indexed yet, i know after a while i will be building backlinks to the articles but i don't think i need backlinks just to get it indexed! also i noticed articles posted today by other members are indexed, is it because i am still a new member, maybe AB has a system of some sort to leave my (new members) articles deindexed?have you experienced something like this?

    thanks in advance.

thanks very much, I really appreciate it. I think I'll look for a product with high gravity in clickbank and then look for similar products on Plimus and then check out the landing page and test that way.

well reading the previous few comments got me thinking if i could pull it off, but you reassured me, i am a student too (well i will be in a few weeks again) and i think i won't be able to put in more than 2 hours a day so i guess i will have to come up with a strategy to be as efficient as possible like you did, guess progress will be slow but it's better than no progress at all.

Ive just started a site a few weeks ago promoting a clickbank product and want to make sure im doing the right thing. Can it also work for me if I am submitting articles linking back to only my homepage instead of a main article? I feel like I would rather have my website ranking first instead of an ezine article. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks

It may take your site longer to rank. The ezine articles have potential to rank in the top 10 right away. With a new market I'm trying to get into I'm using article marketing, trying to get the articles to rank, but also trying to get blog posts/articles at my site to rank as well. My site may take longer to rank but longer term I'd like to have more stable organic traffic if at all possible.

Link everything back to your main page. That's what I do. People will most likely find the article. If you link the smaller articles to your main page and then the small article ends up ranking high...that is good news for your main page as well.

i think it's better to rank to the preferred article on your site, to increase it's page rank.

    for example

site.com/how to lose belly weight really extra fast.html should have the juicy backlinks, not site.com !

    :p

    Hey pete.. Just curious
When you say you pump out for example.. 50 articles on one product..
In some of the articles do you make more than one article with the same keyword? but the article is written different?
Example: keyword - "lose weight fast"
would you make more than 1 article on that keyword? or.. 50 articles.. all different keywords?

Hope you understand that. Hard to explain.

@tonks I generally look for about 50 long tail keywords and I will only write 1 article per keyword. If you use the write title and keyword in the article you will find you can generally get listed for that main keyword and you will also get listings on other keywords as well. So 1 article per keywor so 50 keywords = 50 articles.

    Hope this helps

Well done Pete. I have just caught up with you're thread and find it very inspiring. Although I am not a newbie I still take on board everything you have said and done. You're one of the few that take action, I can guarantee out of the hundreds and thousands that read this thread only 5% will actually take enough action to succeed.

Couple of questions because I may of flicked a couple of pages in between hehe.

How many articles are you submitting per week per product to you're main article directory?

Also is this correct for you're process.

Main Article Directory (link to landing page & redirect)
Send Article to several other Directories (link to main AD and landing page)
Squidoo page with 5 articles (link to AD and landing page)
Hub Page with 5 articles (link to AD and landing page)
    Bookmark ALL articles

then thats it? Add other articles and repeat process?
