Clickbank hoplink to homepage and Google

After reading over on the google forums it looks like a google dance may be going on. I certainly believe it because I've gone from #1 to page 6.

    My question is this:

I recently changed where my publisher hoplink goes. It used to go to a page within my website, but I changed it to the homepage.

Does anyone think that this will adversely affect my rankings?

It actually has to go to homepage....Hoplink must take to the main website, not subdomain or other page.

Sorry to contradict you, but the hoplink can go to any page on a website. Ours used to go to /node/135, but I changed it to the homepage because we have more than one product now.

yeah, but it was changed a month ago... hard to believe that it just took effect now. We're now ranked #66. #1 - #66 seems like maybe a competitor getting jealous maybe? This is a white hat SEO site, so I'm stumped at the moment.

    Has anybody else experience this?

What is everyone's opinion... did I incur a google penalty for doing this or am I dancing with Google and they've flung me down in the pile for awhile.
