I received an email yesterday from someone telling me my program I sell through clickbank is now on multiple file sharing sites. And, I found it on 4shared, 2shared, depositfiles, and several others. To say the least, this is greatly affecting my sales. There is no reason someone should buy my program when it is available for free through one of these sites. Just do an internet search for it, and there it is free for the download. I need specific language and instructions on how to get these deleted. Please help. Else, I might as well delete my clickbank account.
Don't be mistaken in the amount of people that actually prefer to buy it directly from you and those whom don't even search for a free version of your product. First thing you need to do is getting a proper DMCA email together which you can sent to the file hosting services and other websites that link and share your copyrighted file. (Don't worry to much about the formality of your email or contacting a lawyer for the matter. They are playing unfair so why shouldn't you?) If contacting the these websites directly does not work contact their host and their domain services. When all this doesn't work, which I highly doubt you can always introduce version 2.0 of your product / guide. With version 2.0 I am referring to extra information, a renewed guide or a few simple tweaks on your website that makes those whom downloaded your guide for free think this isn't it. You can keep the exact same product but twist the presentation a bit that your visitors would rather buy from you because it's updated rather then some fake free version of your actual product. As with anything; movies, music, games and what not you have to work around piracy no matter how annoying it is. It might also be a good idea to get actual copyrights registered for your product as reference for your DMCA complaints, but to be honest I would fake lawyer informations and all that since they are not playing fair either. Don't give up and work with what you have. You can even try releasing a "trial/short" version of your guide on the exact same websites they share your files on. However, I do think you are going to be surprised with the reaction most of the "pirate" websites are going to give you. I'm pretty sure they will remove the files faster then you can imagine with the right email as we are in a certain age that a lot of websites are being taken to court because of shit like this. Remember that 99% is not willing to go to court over such a small or even huge "piracy". DO NOT GIVE UP BRO. For example: Blogging to the bank was pirated as hell, yet they made millions even after their shit was released all over the web. https://flippa.com/2741014-nr-clickbank-best-seller-1-2m-annual-rev-40k-monthly-reccuring-rev
Thank you, Koahost, I was able to find a sample DMCA email online. All I had to to do was paste in my info and the necessary links, sent the emails off to the web hosts, and the links were removed. I'll probably have to check periodically for new links, but I've already seen a difference in sales. And, great idea on uploading a trial version to these sites that I'll think about doing. Thank you, again.
