Click Through Rate Dropped Last Few Days - Internet Ads

    Hi,

I target to internet ads, and usually get hosting ads. Last couple of days ive been getting these domain name buying, etc ads and ctr dropped from 0.5 to 0.2%.

Anyone else experienced this? The hosting service ads seem to do better for me but they seem to have disappeared.

    Strange

Weird as I would range from .6 to .8 % and now I'm at .2% for the last 3 days. Wonder what is going on?

Huge drop for me. Problem is my click counter is saying one thing and Yahoo is reporting a lot lower. I wonder if they are using geo targeting now? Something changed and Yahoo isn't saying what!

I was using revenue science (they are serving yahoo ads) and was told that starting 15th January 2006, yahoo has implemented geo-target.

    "What is going on here!!??"

Probably just a change in algorithm. They seem to change it quite often. Some benefit, some don't :\

    I ran 50/50 YPN/Adsense yesterday and here's what I got:

Revenue from 1 YPN click = 8.9 Adsense clicks. However, Adsense ads are like a magnet and @ the end both networks reported relatively the same revenue 4 yesterday.

YPN is doing so badly, it is the 1st time Adsense seems competitive on my site. Still YPN has the edge but if it continues like this I am thinking of dividinng my traffic between the two, based on their performances on the previous day. Of course, that will be after I receive YPN payment this month. I can't risk being booted @ the end of the month for dropped traffic :)

I've been running the 50/50 split of ypn and adsense since Friday when this whole thing started. Interesting thing is adsense actually beats out ypn now and that has never happened on my sites since I started using ypn over a year ago.

I've been geo-targeting my sites for months not so, If I'm geo-targeting the ypn ads, what the hell is Yahoo geo-targeting. My click counters over the last couple of days have been off by almost 1/2 to what Yahoo is reporting in clicks. Yesterday for example my software reported 402 clicks but Yahoo only reported 210 clicks and that just pisses me off. They've never been off by that much before. I believe they're geo-targeting is crap and they're not counting double click from one customer anymore as well. Who knows but if this keeps up I might as well use adsense....at least my customers will have a better experience and I'll make the same if not more money.

OK I'm done with my RANT!!!! :)

    i hear your frustrations but this is not new. i had posted my own experiment months ago regarding these issues. to recap, here is what i have learned;

ypn is not counting multiple clicks from the same ip - even if those other clicks are to different pages on the same site or a different site completely.

ypn may not be counting clicks from the same ip over a 2 day period. so user A clicks today and again tomorrow. only the 1 today would count. this seriously impacted my repeat visitor performance. others have debated this issue, but i stand by my statement.

    ypns geoip database is inaccurate.

conduct your own experiments. if you know what you are doing, im sure you will figure out how to re-maximize on your ypn / adsense revenue.
