Click Fraud

Is there any way to detect click fraud?

In reading the various forums there seems to be quite a few ways to be hit by click fraud. There are bots which hit your site, either loading the whole page or just the header, never hitting much else. Then there are bots that hit ads, etc.

Is there a way to detect this type of fraudulent activity?

Google has a way to detect this, as I once almost was banned for having an auto hitter (something like stumble upon, but automatic) on a page with an adSense add on it and I had forgotten about the script. The suggested me to remove the script within 24 hours or I would be banned. So it IS possible.

Thanks for the responses, but I was looking for a script or something to help me detect this type of traffic.

So that I would have a better idea of what I have for "real" traffic.

Maybe I put this thread in the wrong section??

Keep checking your logs, both server logs and GA as the difference in results will tell a lot.
Also you could install Woopra and actually see live stats coming in. A click bot can then easily be spotted.
