Click fraud question

    Hi,

I have been using AdSense for around 6 months on a few of my web sites. I don't make a great deal from it, usually 10-15 clicks per day generating a dollar a day. I am quite happy with that as my sites don't generate masses of traffic anyway.

The other day I noticed that one of my web sites generated an alarming 52 clicks when normally it only gets 2 or 3 of my total 10-15. This mass increase in clicks only generated 5 bucks so the ads that were getting clicked were not high paying.

So my question is, because of the unusual activity could Google potentially ban my account, or are they sophisticated enough to know that it wasn't me and based on my 6 month history (where this kind of thing has never happened before) realise that I am not one of those people who are trying to get quick profits?

By the way, this all happened 2 weeks ago and Google hasn't adjusted the earnings for that day.

My thoughts are that they are smart enough to detect that it wasn't me, mainly because if they went around banning accounts on this basis then everyone would simply click competitors ads to get them banned.

But would appreciate other peoples thoughts on this.

    TIA

You'd better to report it to google.

I ran into a similar situation like you few days ago. I was using Adlogger to capture those figures. Although I doubt the effectiveness of Adlogger, I've reported the case to Google.

    Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

    Silkysmooth,
If you're innocent, I think you should just ignore this incident. I faced this same situation like 2 weeks also and I did nothing and everything went just fine. G can determine if you made these clicks or not.

just report it to google...show to them you're not guilty for that click fraud case. If you're keep silence, there will never know and all the blamed goes to you.

Some said that Adsense has this so called "Click Tolerance", Adsense will tolerate a repeated click from a specific IP but once Adsense detects abusive clicks they will send you an email informing you that you're banned.

If you want a clear answer from your question you can contact Adsense Support Team and surely they will reply.

To put it in perspective, how many impressions do you normally generate for those 10 clicks, and how many impressions did you generate on the day you received 52 clicks? Without knowing this very important data, it's impossible to tell if you were click bomb or if those earnings were legit.
