I'm just freaked out at the amount that is sitting in my adsense account thats all, i feel bad now maybe he was just trying to help legitimately - it doesn't make sense to me either.

I read what you posted as the PM you received and I don;t see anything that says he was going to click on your ads.

A lot of people claim to have ways and advise to increase your adsense revenue. I am sure some of them have some good information. Did you ask him if that was what he was talking about before you posted this thread? I would not jump to any conclusions without asking the person what they were talking about in the PM. Maybe it was a legit deal.

If you suspect some strange behavior or click fraud, notify Google. I have had to do this on more than one occassion. It pays to be safe, rather than sorry.

He was the last person LOGGED in there...isn't it possible that someone could just visit the site and click away without logging in? I'm not saying anything one way or another about the PM person, just looking at all the possibilities.

Well I feel really terrible now for this person.
Perhaps i put 2 and 2 together and made 5, i just dont know what to do - i hvae all this money in my adsense and it's like I obviously didn't earn that with the little traffic I had.

    hmmm,

Google is not retarded.. If you have some question about it, email them. Telling us does you no good. As for the person that PM'd you, I would just leave that one lie if you are unsure about what they meant. No sense in getting someone lambasted for something they never intended.

Doesn't the statcounter just show you page views? If so, how do you know who it is? How did this person show up (what "trail" was left) on your page so that you know it's the same person that PMed you?

I think you're over reacting, nowhere in his PM does it say he is going to click on your ads, plus, others may have visited your site at the same time from your profile page or your sig link. I just visited your site through your profile, just as I'm sure many others have when they saw your post.

That said, I'd be a little more paranoid about offering anyone any help after seeing a reaction like this. Unless you have specific proof that he visited the site and clicked on your ads, don't waste googles time and don't screw someone over that may have been offering legitimate help as I would offer.

    Not everyone is evil.

This also smells like linkbait but probably isn't :)

As another note, I have a dating related site where I get $1+ per click ads from adsense, so the fact that you have a dating related post in your blog may bring up the same juicy ads :) some "making money" ads are also juicy, so just because you saw some money roll in doesn't mean it was that person. Could be anybody.

If that is what is happening, there is a possible explanation. The post was made asking about preventing click fraud. The post basically gave indication that the site was unprotected.....

Linkbaiting is a way of creating something that naturally attracts backlinks for your web site. People do this by getting people to talk about the web site for instance discussing it on forums like DP, blogging about the site, or posting it on del.icio.us/Furl/Digg/Shoutwire and linking to it from their sites.

Adsense doesn't update within 10 minutes... as far as I know it's at LEAST 1 hr behind... more like 2 or 3 hrs for me...
